Albright, renown as a painter of the macabre was commissioned by Albert Lewin to paint the portrait of Dorian Gray for his 1934-44 movie adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s 1891 novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. The painting is in the permanent collection of the Chicago Art Institute.
